Ljubljana Airport (Brnik) is 26 km from the city. Sounds close — it is. But at 5am with two suitcases and a tight connection, those 26 km become a logistical question. Here's every option, honestly:
There is no direct train to Ljubljana Airport. Slovenia in 2026, and still no airport rail link. Ljubljana has a main station — Brnik does not. A train helps you get to Maribor or Celje, then you solve the last part separately.
There is a Ljubljana–Brnik bus line, ~€5. Great for solo travellers with a backpack and no time pressure. Runs every ~2 hours. Very early morning? Check the timetable — not always running. With three suitcases? Think twice.
All major agencies are at the airport. Good plan — if you're prepared for €15–25/day city parking, navigating roads you don't know, and returning the car at exactly the right time. Otherwise: fine.
