Portorož is Slovenia's main beach resort — a long promenade, sandy beaches, casino hotels and a lively summer scene. It sits right next to Piran on the same peninsula, 135 km from Ljubljana, about 1h 45min by car.
There is no rail connection to the Slovenian coast, so your options are road-based.
Bus services connect Ljubljana to Portorož, typically via Koper. Journey time is around 2–2.5 hours. Buses drop you on the main road through the resort — convenient for most hotels. Check ap.si for current timetables, especially outside summer when frequency drops.
GoOpti picks you up at your Ljubljana address and drops you at Portorož. Good for solo travellers — the price is lower than a private transfer and they handle the routing. Departure time may vary depending on other passengers. Book in advance, especially in summer.
We pick you up in Ljubljana and take you directly to your hotel in Portorož. Fixed price agreed in advance. For a group of 4, the cost per person is comparable to GoOpti — and you get a direct route with no detours, saving 30–45 minutes.
They're about 2 km apart and most visitors see both. Portorož has the main sandy beach (Plaža Portorož), larger hotels, a casino, and the main resort infrastructure. Piran, just next door, has the atmosphere — medieval alleys, Venetian architecture, seafront restaurants. Many people stay in Portorož and walk to Piran for the evening.
If you want beach and nightlife: Portorož. If you want character and history: Piran. For a combined trip, the transfer price is the same — just tell us your final destination.
They're two separate towns right next to each other, about 2 km apart. Portorož is the resort (beach, hotels, casino). Piran is the historic old town. Transfer price from Ljubljana is the same for both (€150 car).
From Ljubljana Airport (Brnik) to Portorož is about 140 km, approximately 1h 50min by car. If you're landing at Brnik and heading straight to the coast, we can take you directly — no need to go through Ljubljana first.
Portorož has a proper sandy beach — the largest on the Slovenian coast. It gets busy in July–August. The water is calm, shallow, and warm by late summer. There are also several pebble coves nearby.
