Poreč is one of the most popular coastal destinations in Croatian Istria — known for the 6th-century Euphrasian Basilica (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), long beaches and a lively summer scene. It's about 185 km from Ljubljana, roughly 2h 15min by car.
There is no direct train to Croatian Istria. Bus connections exist but involve long journey times and changes. In practice, most travellers use GoOpti or a private transfer.
Bus connections to Poreč exist but require at least one change and take 3.5–4.5 hours. Not recommended for this route unless you're on a very tight budget and have plenty of time.
GoOpti runs regular services from Ljubljana to Poreč. They pick you up at your address and drop you at your hotel. Good value for solo travellers — the shared model keeps prices lower. Journey time is typically 2.5–3h depending on other pick-ups and route. Book in advance.
We drive you directly from Ljubljana to your address in Poreč — hotel, apartment, marina. Fixed price, no detours. For 3–4 people this often costs less per person than GoOpti and gets you there significantly faster. If you're travelling with luggage or children, this is by far the most comfortable option.
About 2 hours 15 minutes by car via the Koper–Pula motorway (A9). The route crosses into Croatia at the Dragonja border crossing near Piran.
