Rovinj is widely considered the most beautiful town on the Istrian coast — its old town built on a small peninsula, colourful houses stacked up to the church tower above the harbour. It's about 210 km from Ljubljana, 2h 30min by car. There is no practical train connection to Rovinj.
Bus connections from Ljubljana to Rovinj exist but require multiple changes and take 4–5+ hours. Only worth considering if you have no time or budget constraints.
GoOpti runs shared shuttles from Ljubljana to Rovinj. You're picked up at your Ljubljana address. Departure time depends on other bookings and the route may include stops. Typically 2.5–3.5h journey time depending on pick-ups. Best for solo travellers or couples on a tighter budget.

Rovinj has somehow managed to stay beautiful and relatively unspoiled despite being popular. The old town is pedestrianised — narrow cobbled lanes, local cats, fishing boats in the harbour. The church of St Euphemia on top of the hill is visible from out at sea.
About 2 hours 30 minutes via the motorway through Koper and down the Istrian coast. The route crosses into Croatia near Piran.

The old town is restricted to vehicles. Your driver will drop you at the edge of the pedestrian zone — from there it's a short walk to any hotel or address.
