Maribor is Slovenia's second-largest city, lying in the wide Drava river valley near the Austrian border. The old town along the riverbank is one of Slovenia's most handsome — the 15th-century castle, the Cathedral of St John, the Lent district, and the old vine that has been growing since at least 1620 and is recognised by Guinness as the oldest living vine in the world.
