Portorož is Slovenia's most popular beach resort — hotels along the waterfront, a casino, a marina and good weather well into October. When it's time to leave, the options by public transport are limited. Buses to Ljubljana run a few times daily and take about 2 hours; getting to the airport directly is not straightforward.

The journey from Portorož to Ljubljana Airport (Brnik — officially Jože Pučnik Airport, operated by Fraport Slovenia) is about 130 km — around 90 minutes in normal conditions. In July and August the coastal road can slow down, so we factor this in when planning your pick-up time.
The Croatian border is just 20 minutes from Portorož. If you're continuing your holiday in Istria — or heading to Pula Airport for a flight — we do that route regularly.
